David Wells has over 25 years experience in business development and the management of industrial and commercial projects, with an emphasis on resource development and innovation in primary and value-added resource sectors. He has held senior management positions in business and government for the last 24 years and has a professional background in corporate administration, project management, resource assessment, business and community development and government policy. He has managed multi-million dollar initiatives and projects in diverse locations throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas. He also has significant experience working with unions, governments, industry associations and stakeholder groups.
Mr. Wells has served as Director of Regional Affairs (Newfoundland and Labrador) for the Government of Canada in addition to serving as Director of Policy at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Chief of Staff/Principal Advisor to the Federal Minister for DFO. He has served as a delegate for Canada at NAFO and other international forums, as well as Senior Policy Advisor to the Federal Minister on the Cabinet Committee on Economic Prosperity and Energy Security.
Mr. Wells’ community involvement has ranged from the Mentoring Program in Big Brothers of Canada, as a volunteer with minor hockey and as a representative on the neighbourhood School Council. He has lived and worked in diverse locations from the coast of Labrador to a small island chain in the Indian Ocean. Mr. Wells currently serves as Deputy CEO of the C-NLOPB.
